We want LLR Knowing Me to be accessible and easy to use for as many people as possible.

LLR Knowing Me is a needs-led neurodevelopmental profiling tool for children and young people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. It is used by trained professionals alongside children and young people, their parent/carers and the people supporting them.

We recognise that people using LLR Knowing Me may have a wide range of communication, sensory, learning, physical and accessibility needs. Accessibility and inclusion are therefore an important part of how the tool is designed and developed.

This accessibility statement applies to the LLR Knowing Me Profiling Tool llrknowingme.org.uk.

What you should be able to do

We aim to make the LLR Knowing Me Profiling Tool as accessible as possible.

You should be able to:

• navigate the website using a keyboard;
• use the website with commonly used screen readers and assistive technology;
• zoom in and enlarge text without losing important information;
• access the website on different screen sizes and devices;
• understand the information provided using clear and accessible language;
• navigate pages using clear headings and a logical structure;
• identify buttons, links and form fields clearly;
• complete the profiling tool without relying only on colour to understand information; and
• access the information contained within your needs-led summary profile.

We also aim to make the content easy to understand and provide information in alternative formats where reasonably possible.

Accessibility standards

We are committed to making the LLR Knowing Me accessible in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018, where these regulations apply.

We aim for the profiling tool to meet the relevant Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA accessibility requirements.

How accessible is LLR Knowing Me?

The LLR Knowing Me website and web-based profiling tool are fully compliant with the relevant accessibility requirements.

Needs-led summary profiles

When LLR Knowing Me is completed, a needs-led summary profile can be generated.

We aim to ensure that the information within the profile is presented in a clear and accessible way.

This includes considering:

• clear headings and structure;
• readable text;
• appropriate colour contrast;
• information not being communicated through colour alone;
• plain and accessible language; and
• compatibility with assistive technology where possible.

We will continue to review the accessibility of generated profiles as part of the ongoing development and evaluation of LLR Knowing Me.

Supporting different communication needs

We recognise that some children and young people may find it difficult to engage with standard written questions or information.

The trained professional completing LLR Knowing Me should support the child or young person to take part in a way that works for them.

This may include:

• explaining information in different ways;
• using visual prompts or communication aids;
• giving additional processing time;
• breaking information into smaller sections;
• taking breaks;
• using alternative communication methods; and
• involving someone who knows the child or young person well.

Children and young people should be supported to express their views in the way that is most appropriate and accessible for them.

This could include:

• a larger print version;
• an alternative digital format;
• information presented in simpler language; or
• support to understand or access information.
